“Semantic Data: Taxonomies, Ontologies, and Knowledge Graphs,” a new one-day conference, will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 in New York. The conference will feature EK’s Lulit Tesfaye as the invited keynote speaker and Heather Hedden as a session speaker.
Lulit Tesfaye, Partner and VP for Knowledge & Data Services at Enterprise Knowledge, will present the opening keynote “Realizing the Semantic Layer: Building the Foundation for the Future.” Interest is growing in the semantic layer, which is emerging as a pivotal force transcending traditional data structures and fostering a new era of comprehension and connectivity that can also enable organizations to realize the full promise of AI. Tesfaye will share real world experience to explore the realm of semantic solutions, new trends, and what she envisions for the future.
Heather Hedden, Senior Consultant (Taxonomy/Ontology) at Enterprise Knowledge, will present “Taxonomies to Ontologies: How, When, and Why to Connect or Extend.” Semantic Web standards and technologies enable the combination of taxonomies and ontologies, which brings added benefits of both to an organization’s information and knowledge strategy, including serving as core components of a semantic layer. This session addresses the conceptual issues of the different approaches of connecting taxonomies and ontologies and of extending a taxonomy to include ontology features.
“Semantic Data” is a one-day conference organized by Henry Stewart Events (HSE) and is co-located at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel with the long-running HSE DAM (Digital Asset Management) conference; the two events will share a vendor exhibition. The inaugural Semantic Data conference was successfully held this June in London, at which Tesfaye was also the invited keynote speaker.
